Well, we're home again from another round of goin-goin. In between keeping up with the gin and taxidermy, we spent a few days at Indian Canyon Ranch cooking for the cowboys working cows. Then it was off to San Angelo to work with another taxidermist. We stayed with Mimi Joan and she kept Taegan while we worked. I think they both had a great time. Next, we and a couple of our guys went to Concan to work on our rental cabins with Al's parents and sister and brother-in-law. We worked hard and had a good time, but it's nice to be back home and slowing down for a little bit. Taegan is 3 1/2 months and weighs 14 pounds!! (He doesn't miss many meals!) He's laughing and cooing, and is so much fun!
Crista took some more really great pictures for us. The things we do to babies in the name of a cute picture!

Well, it's that time of year again. Most people kill any and every rattlesnake they come across, and my husband is out catching them and bringing them home. As nervous as it makes me, he LOVES hunting snakes and lives for this time of year.
So, a few weeks ago I was on my way to Lubbock when Al calls and tells me, "I need you to do me a favor but you're not gonna like it." Hmm... that always makes you nervous. "I need my snakes to stay alive for a few more weeks so I need you to go get me some mice to feed them," he says. So when I get to Lubbock I go by the pet store and tell them I need some feeder mice. "What kind?" the guy asks. Kind??? Silly me, I guess I thought they all tasted the same. So after looking them all over, I choose 5 mice. The guy takes the little darlins and drops them in a small paper bag and hands them to me. I tell him I still have a few errands to run and ask if they'll be okay in my car. He asks for how long and I tell him another hour or two. He makes a face and says, "Hmmm. Better put them in your purse." So, I sure did put a paper sack full of mice in my diaper bag and carry them around town with me. If becoming a taxidermist didn't merit a "wife of the year" award, I think this certainly does. In case you're wondering, we all made it home and the snakes are still alive and have full tummies. Yea yea.
